Albany Troy Hockey Association

The mission of Albany Troy Hockey Association is to provide the best opportunities for the progressive development of all young hockey players in the Capital Region of New York State and surrounding areas.  Their programs focus on overall player development.  They want playing hockey to be a positive and enjoyable experience for the entire family while providing the proper development for each child to enhance his or her skills.  Their aim is to select the players with the appropriate skills, ability and potential for growth at each level.

Age Divisions

Mite Level (boys/girls)

-Learn to Skate (recommended for ages 3-6); 16 week program

-Cross Ice; 16 week program teaches basic hockey skills and 3 on 3 cross-ice games

-Advanced Cross Ice and Mite B (6 teams for internal play; 1 travel team for second half of season)

-Mite A – traditional travel team (boys/girls)

Squirt Level (9-10 year olds; boys/girls)

Pewee Level (11-12 year olds; boys/girls)

Bantam Level (13-14 year olds)

Midget Level – U16, U18

Ice Cats (girls) – U14, U16, U19

The Albany Troy Hockey Association plays in tournaments throughout the region.




The official home of TAYHA is Frear Park Ice Arena in Troy, which is operated and maintained by the association through an agreement with the city of Troy.  Other rinks in the area are also used to meet the demand of the association, including the Albany County Hockey Training Facility in Albany, the Knickerbacker Arena in Troy, and Hudson Valley Community College
